Netflix’s original movie, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, is a fun film packed with psychology. Psych Cinema is our video series where Jonathan Hetterly explores the psychology behind the films that he watches and loves.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is Netflix’s movie adaptation based on the novel by Jenny Han. This coming of age film follows Lara Jean, and her life after a grouping of journal entries disguised as love letters end up being sent. Lara Jean’s life events that unfold speak to the film’s topics of fabricated self versus true self, grief and loss, and ultimately post-traumatic growth.
