Season 7 of The Walking Dead has resumed and, unlike previous seasons, a lot of viewers just don’t care that much. After a compelling back half of Season 6, the dramatic introduction of Negan in the Season 6 finale, and an emotionally wrenching Season 7 premiere, this show has been in a major slump. The reasons for its troubles are manifold, the most basic probably being regression to the mean: it’s just really difficult to maintain the quality of a television program over the long haul.
Personally, I thought the midseason premiere was encouraging. It’s definitely not back to form but it seems to be getting on track (and the highway walker herd scene was great).
